Todmotèm visis' (Tuntematon potilas)
Since its premiere in 1964, the Unknown Patient has been staged more than a thousand times in Finland and abroad. The play's enormous popularity is based on its internal contradictions. In it, the administrators of a busy hospital make decisions regarding the care of the mentally ill without any real knowledge of the actual situation at the hospital. Then, due to a misunderstanding, the chairman himself winds up as a patient at the institution. Suddenly, as an unknown patient he is now confronted with his own earlier absurd degrees and decisions. The original Finnish version premiered at the Finnish National Theatre in 1964.
